Réné Michel, Viré-Clessé Quintaine 2014, South Burgundy
Tasting notes
Compared to the normal cuvée Tradition, it has extra flavour, intensity, brightness, basically all-round brilliance. It's the kind of wine that can be drunk at any point over 8 to 12 years, perhaps beyond, depending on the year. (D.H., 2020)

Expert's View
"René Michel, one of the unsung stars of Southern Burgundy, gets results not far off from wines such as Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, and Chassagne-Montrachet. Most of their wine is raised in tank, and their house style is one of clean, flamboyant, 'richly-dry', fresh wines. Chilled they are absolutely brilliant there’s so much flavour and texture and personality and detail. Coming to room temperature they become more and more flamboyant and dramatic and exciting. It’s quite amazing when a small family domain from the small villages of Viré-Clessé hits the top list of the best estates in France – marvellous to see." ~ Clear Wine's Co's Wine Expert
