Saint-Joseph Vieilles Vignes 2017, Tardieu-Laurent, North Rhone
Tasting notes
60- and 100-year-old vines, some on granite, in decent communes. Very dark. Like the Crozes, much riper on the nose than most of its peers. Very full-on indeed. Attractive acidity and muscularity on the finish. Finishes with admirable freshness. Jancis Robinson (2012 vintage; tasted: Nov 2013);
Our wine expert points out that, as this wine is 'bottled unfined and unfiltered, the producer suggests decanting a young vintage an hour before serving where possible, However it's not necessary. A light deposit/sediment will be found in older vintages.

Expert's View
"Tardieu's St.Joseph Vielle Vignes is a richly dry red, dangerously close to being a perfect all-rounder, which drinks well from birth to death. By this we mean that it is good with most food, and always drinks well - a handy attribute in wine, we find. It's warm but fresh, fruity and mineral, balanced Syrah." ~ Clear Wine Co's Wine Expert
