VOUVRAY SEC 2014 "COTEAU DE LA BICHE", BY DOMAINE PICHOT, LOIREGrape/Location:
Chenin Blanc grape, grown in the central Loire Valley, northern France. Tasting notes This wine is warm, rounded and packed with fruit. Baked apple and spice are combined with almond and honey flavours. The wine is dry, very fresh while also concentrated and dense. It needs to age, so drink from 2018. (R.V. – Wine Enthusiast; 2014 vintage; tasted 1/11/15) Expert's View “Vouvray is a tapestry of subtlety different terroir or vineyard types, that tend to define what style of wine is made on a regular basis. The dry wine is absolutely wonderful with food and absolutely cracking value.” ~ Clear Wine Co's Wine Expert |
MORGON VIEILLES VIGNES 2013, GRANGE COCHARD, BEAUJOLAISGrape/Location:
Gamay grape, grown in the Beaujolais region of the Rhône Valley, France. Tasting notes Elegant and pure nose of raspberry and strawberry. Packed with fresh fruit on the palate with a chewy but fine structure. Good minerality on the finish. (Producer’s notes) Expert's View “This new English project from the very first vintage, delivered cracking, text book, oak and textured, detailed, complex, autolyzed, uplifting, cool, Beaujolais; absolutely brilliant for drinking all the year, chilled in summer great with fish, great for tasting while your Burgundys are maturing or when you don't feel like some Bordeaux, or for when you want really, really top end wine but not heavy wine. The wines are made in the natural approach, high quality, consistent and of clean genre definitely not in the hippie school. Grand Cochard has a really reasonable price-point, top notch kit, hooray value. Get it on the table, drink it, buy some more, it's just what you want.” ~ Clear Wine Co's Wine Expert |
CHAMPAGNE BRUT NV, GYEJACQUOTGrape/Location:
Pinot Noir grape, grown in Côte des Bar region of Champagne. Tasting notes Pale yellow, hints of green. Even mousse of small bubbles. Floral, citrus fruits, red fruits. On the palate: Round and fruity with great depth yet is fresh and elegant at the same time. Mineral, creamy citrus palate, hints of brioche and toast with a crisp finish of red fruits and a touch of honey. Very easy to drink. (D.H. 2020) Expert's View “The wine is popular in London Clubland and offers vegan compatible, fresh, crunchy style – a perfect aperitif champagne.” ~ Clear Wine Co's Wine Expert |
SAINT-JOSEPH "LES ROCHES" VIEILLES VIGNES 2008, BY TARDIEU, NORTH RHONEGrape/Location:
Syrah grape, grown in the lower Rhone Valley, southern France. Tasting notes 60- and 100-year-old vines, some on granite, in decent communes. Very dark. Like the Crozes, much riper on the nose than most of its peers. Very full-on indeed. Attractive acidity and muscularity on the finish. Finishes with admirable freshness. Jancis Robinson (2012 vintage; tasted: Nov 2013) Expert's View "Tardieu's St.Joseph Vielle Vignes is a richly dry red, dangerously close to being a perfect all-rounder, which drinks well from birth to death. By this we mean that it is good with most food, and always drinks well - a handy attribute in wine, we find. It's warm but fresh, fruity and mineral, balanced Syrah." ~ Clear Wine Co's Wine Expert |
PROSECCO DI TREVISO BRUT NV, IL COLLE, VENETO
PROSECCO DI TREVISO BRUT NV, IL COLLE, VENETOGrape/Location:
Glera grape grown in San Pietro di Feletto, Treviso, Italy. Tasting notes Fresh and fragrant sparkling wine, with strong floral and fruity notes. Color: pale straw yellow with greenish reflections. Bouquet: slightly fruity, reminiscent of unripe apple. Taste: dry but balanced and harmonious. Excellent throughout the meal, with light first courses based on vegetables and with fish. (Producer's notes) Expert's View “They make a really clean, vibrantly fresh, appley style of Prosecco as an alternative to hazy wines; very clear and bright and a real crowd-pleaser, and not too sweet, with a nice fizz to it.” ~ Clear Wine Co's Wine Expert |
