Tasting Note
"Strong ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicate cherries and candied violets, a bit of blackberries, hints of vanilla. Juicy, medium body, dark berry confit, balanced tannin structure, spicy finish." (Peter Moser - Falstaff - 2020 vintage) Provenance Producer: Weingut Stift Klosterneuburg Location: Tattendorf, Thermenregion, Austria Ageing: Eight months in large oak casks Farming: Sustainable Bottle Info. Variety: Zweigelt Contents: 13.5% abv, 75 cl Closure: Cork Producer's view The Zweigelt variety, created in 1922 by Prof. Zweigelt at the Klosterneuburg School of Winemaking by crossing Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, is one of Austria’s classic red wine varieties. Deep ruby red with a youthful character, a strong aroma of ripe Bigarreau cherries, juicy and powerful on the palate, with elegant extract sweetness and a soft tannin structure. This example of the village wine collection represents Austrian winemaking tradition in its most enjoyably drinkable form. |
