Luca Gungui is a country guy who has left for life experience and then come back to the countryside, where he has actually lifted things up a notch in terms of quality. Cantina Gungui is in Sardinia and runs a 2.5 hectare small project at quite some altitude at 650 metres, in the hills of Sardinia at a place called Mamoiada. His vineyard is very hands-on, he simply farms the vineyard’s grapes, ferments them, ages them in cask, and then offers it.
He can really look after his 2.5 hectares like his garden, and that means being in touch with all your plants, with all your vines, and doing what you can do yourself in a matter of a day or two. His vineyard up in the hills is not surrounded by other vineyards, and tends to get less disease pressures in the first place and the farming is easily seen as organic compliant.
