Brovia is a marvellous family business, one of the good traditional wineries of Barolo of the eleven communes of the Barolo wine region. Alex Sanchez is the winemaker from Barcelona. The vineyard is run by two daughters, a qualified viticulturalist and qualified winemaker. Alex Sanchez now does the winemaking, and the business side of it and the girls run the vineyard.
Brovia use large casks, mid to large sized ‘botte grande’ of 20-25 hectolitres, that is neutral with no oak flavours, and no pressed wine is added to the final wine. They have a 90 hectare estate that is certified organic. They also get their Barolo, Roero and Arneis from a long contract farmer in the Roero zone who is not certified, but it is in the sustainable program. Az. Agr.
